CALENDAR 2008

Come to the Museum for a Fun-Filled Second Saturday! On Second Saturday the Museum is open it’s regular Saturday hours but the Special Second Saturday program starts at 1:00.

July 12th
Start at the California Center for the Arts Escondido (Art Museum) at 1:00 pm. for a reading of Wild and Woolly, a children’s book illustrated by Shannon Mc Neill. Then venture over to the Children’s Museum for a shadow puppet show about the book. Admission at the Art Museum (both shows included) is $5.00.

August 9th
Simple Science
It’s time for some hands-on science experiments. Stir up some Gushy Glop to take home and drive your parents and friends wacky.

September 13th
Fiesta Time:
We will dress in Mexican costume and make tortillas by hand. Get ready to make a piñata and then play a game to break it.

October 4th
5th Annual Moonlight Masquerade, "Setting Sail."
Support museum operations while you dress-up, bid, dine, and dance. Tickets and sponsorships available - buy early, while you can!

October 11th
Going Batty
Come and learn about the surprising, beneficial world of bats. We will make some play bats and enjoy bat cookies with Dracula punch.

November 8th
Feathered Friends
Fly on over to make a bird feeder and a bird seed collage. We’ll have some bird-themed snacks to peck at, too.

December 13th
Holiday Time at the Museum
Make Christmas tree ornaments for the museum and home. Snacking on cookies and hot chocolate, we’ll learn about diverse holiday traditions.

On Friday afternoons visitors adorn foot-long cardboard cars with paint, bottle caps, buttons and other out-of-the-ordinary items and then put them on a paper road. The road points to downtown Grand Avenue where the real classic cars are displayed each Friday evening.
